Kylo P Oct 25, 2018 Maybe SLC Punk isn't exactly an accurate portrayal of my life in alternative culture, Hell, maybe it isn't exactly an accurate portrayal of anyone's life in alternative culture, but seeing a movie where people belonging to alternative culture are actually characters? That was a massive deal to me growing up, and this alone would make me a fan of SLC Punk, but even aside from that there is its unique filming style, solid acting presence and intense philospohical questions to push it over the line into worthwhile. Harry W Jul 9, 2018 I only made it a few minutes into what appeared to me a piece of garbage with poor acting, poor direction, unrealistic plot (clean cut mother wouldn't have sat right in front of them in the doc's office even if they hadn't tried to talk to her child and no doctor would use physical force on any patient when they refuse treatment), and while I certainly sympathize with the young punk's conflict with clean cut America, they snuck up on the "rednecks" with pipes instead of giving them a fair fight which is even worse than a sucker punch, which is what this movie felt like to me. The main thing saving it from the absolute lowest rating is the awesome music although that's not original anymore either. I suppose to be fair rating I should have watched it to the end but unfortunately I'm not immortal and don't have that much time to waste. See more

Draco G Feb 27, 2018 Very enjoyable movie. An interesting and almost nostalgic look at the past when subcultures were at their peak, at a time when many young people were looking to find themselves. Stevo and Bob's story is touching, because as much as they have a nihilistic view on life, they're still very much growing, searching and changing, despite the numerous parties and dangerous hijinks. The fact that Stevo is also a narrator to the audience is also a nice touch, almost like we're watching a student's documentary about life around him. And every character, no matter how stereotypical they may look, is given at least a little bit of depth. See more
