Zoo isn't particularly engaging visually, but for young animal lovers, the film's heart-warming story about children saving a baby elephant will be a joy.

An unlikely family film, one that will delight the kids (who see themselves portrayed as heroes) while leaving parents with a lot of explaining to do.

Despite some flaws, it's great to see an adventurous kids' movie based in Ireland. And of course, it's hard not to appreciate a story about a baby elephant and a kid that loves animals.

Poignant drama with believable characters. The film is mostly uplifting, but there are also themes of sadness and tension. However, it's all put together and presented well by writer and director Colin McIvor.
