The discovery of a cure for mutations leads to a turning point for Mutants (Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer). They may now choose to give up their powers and become fully human or retain their uniqueness and remain isolated. War looms between the followers of Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), who preaches tolerance, and those of Magneto (Ian McKellen), who advocates survival of the fittest.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

X-Men: The Last Stand provides plenty of mutant action for fans of the franchise, even if it does so at the expense of its predecessors' deeper character moments.

Sillier than the Singer versions, Ratner's movie is also -- for this less-than-reverent X-Men fan -- more satisfying. Go to Full Review

X-Men: The Last Stand has shifted the shape of the franchise from pretty good, if uninspired, to terrifically entertaining. Go to Full Review

[I] found myself strangely moved by the sense of relationships, friendly and unfriendly, coming to an end in a dull return to normality in the world of humans and mutants. Go to Full Review

What a shocking way to throw out all the good will you built with two surprisingly effective X-Men movies. Go to Full Review

At several points during The Last Stand, I wondered how many plots and subplots one film could handle, and ultimately, they all proved to be too much for one 104-minute movie. Go to Full Review

Anakin R Mar 25, 2019 Better action scenes but every thing else is bad.
Rey M Mar 16, 2019 This is pretty much abysmal, and I've met Brett Ratner...he's a dick. Not sure if the Xavier death is taken from the comics but it's handled atrociously and almost doesn't really seem to matter. Look this film has Vinnie Jones in it dressed up like the Michelin Man, if you still want to watch it, don't say I didn't warn you. See more
Rey M Mar 9, 2019 A massive disappointment
Mar 2, 2019 bad movie but not that bad
Leia M Feb 23, 2019 The Last Stand ups the action, and continues to ask thought-provoking questions, and while these questions are lost in the wide cast of characters I enjoyed my time in The Last Stand. See more
Kylo L Feb 20, 2019 The X-Men's greatest enemy was Tim Rothman.
