This is a good old fashioned, dumb slasher. The only unique twist on the generic formula is that the antagonists are a family of inbred homicidal hicks. Oh wait, that’s not unique, that’s a rip off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Even with an R rating, this just feels like a less original, watered down The Hills Have Eyes ripoff.

While not considered an outright classic from its own time period, the first Wrong Turn is a wicked love letter to ’70s brutality. Its unapologetic yet sincere approach has been long underappreciated.

A cut above the recent lot of slasher films...it does not feel as if it has to cater to audiences who want every plot point spoon fed to them.

Was Wrong Turn directed by the kind of in-bred mountain men depicted in the film? The opening credits is the only device that drive the plot -- the rest is simply a squeal-inducing hunt movie.
