After their friend Billy (Anthony Starr) dies, Tom (Dax Shepard), Jerry (Matthew Lillard) and Dan (Seth Green) go on a camping trip to honor his memory. The campsite, however, has special significance. Billy believed famous airplane hijacker D.B. Cooper hid money in the area, and his friends aim to find it. Unfortunately, they are not prepared for the adventure. After falling over a waterfall, they are left to the mercy of wild animals and a harsh wilderness terrain.

Critics Consensus

Without a Paddle has a few laughs, but not enough to sustain its running time.

While striving for a bit of liberalism (ain't we City types the real stoopid ones) almost every scene then throws in the towel and falls back on a clutch of unfunny country-livin' clichs.

Anything directed by Steven Brill will leave you worried about the overall quality for what you're going to watch. But this film is not as bad as you expected it would be. Granted, the script is terrible, the story is uneven, and has many awkward and ridiculous scenes that will leading to grinning teeth. However, is offers some laughs and a strong friendship bondage that it manages to maintain, is just enough to make sure this boat doesn't sink into the river.

A comedy film where the leads have great chemistry is hard to find, and this one has it in spades. A great comedy that holds strong near 15 years, and reminds the audience that despite going your separate ways or drifting apart there will be people there for you. The topic of friendship, self doubt and feelings of failure are slipped into this comedy, though some of the jokes may be deemed politically incorrect by todays standards. Amazing job as well should be credited to Burt Reynolds for his minor role, as he brings a lot of laughs with a short amount of screen time.

Actually I find this comeday underrated! First 3/4th of the movie was pretty funny! The end is a bit lame but I had good laughs.

Here is a fast paced hit or miss comedy. the things is, that it's jokes are not subtle and they really come across as forced or over emphasized with the music being a little too bold. Kinda of relies on cheap laughs to get you through. There's a lot of physical comedy but its not really solid. the characters are not well rounded and too overt. The nature scenes look good and there is at least a sense of adventure and familiar friendship. It's definitely just a light hearted party film that you might watch just once in the background with a large group, but it's nothing to sit and ponder. Not the worst date movie. It breaks the ice.
