What to Know

Critics Consensus

The low budget may explain Wing Commander's cheesy special effects, but can't excuse the lame dialogue or the movie's obsessive reliance on sci-fi cliches.

Excruciatingly earnest yet convictionless. Go to Full Review

Though the ingredients are potent, their blending here mostly comes off as formulaic, humdrum and sometimes unintentionally laughable. Go to Full Review

Wing Commander looks like it was put together by people who couldn't agree on whether or not the year 2564 would be colored with red bulbs and fluorescent cafeteria lights or costumed as if Urban Oufitters had gone to Uranus. Go to Full Review

Finn P Oct 24, 2018 One of the best Cheesy Sci-fi movies of the 90's Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard have great chemistry. Memorable movie if you forget the source material and ignore the critics you will have a good time! See more
Jun 27, 2018 Loved the game, but the movie was dumb on so many levels. Like a stupider version of Starship Troopers, but with electric violins (real thing in the movie). See more
Hermione W May 27, 2018 Better than the last jedi.... Weirdly I like this movie. Some of it is really dumb The control column for the bomber is a now discontinued steering controller. Looks hideous. Slightly cheesy. Things that are interesting Submarine/ carrier type ships. The range of jobs that give a military feel and organisation. Strong female leads Random trivia There was supposed to be kilrathi in the movie but the suits were cumbersome and looked terrible so you see next to nothing of it. See more
