McQueen sets a relentlessly portentous tone and employs lots of stark mise-en-scene, but all the fuss feels arbitrary here - the pulpy story simply doesn't warrant such grave stylization.

A thriller for modern women who identify more with the messiness of human lives than with flattened slogans about how great women, as a monolithic group, are.

There can be power in kindness and in camaraderie alongside crime and corruption, and that is the nuance, the depth, and the politics Widows provides.

It’s unapologetically stark in its portrayal of violence, grief and corruption. But it’s also endlessly entertaining thanks to McQueen and Flynn’s talents, as well as the complexities of the characters and their wonderful performers.

Slow. Depressing. A waste of my 2 hours. Great actors, so it was a shame.

Movie night with Iris. You don't expect McQueen to be remaking ITV Lydia La Plante fare. And do you know what, he shouldn't have. It's an un-involving mess. Trying to be true to the source, trying to have a feminist reboot, and trying to be The Wire. Some see this as a rip-roaring heist. I was bored. The plot is clunky, the script clunkier; but them critics are blinded by McQueen.

An interesting film, but somewhat overrated. Although has an interesting twist and it's good to see Neeson in a good movie once again. Also the action is quite good and overall the film surprised me greatly in a good way.
