Harry Crumb descends from a long line of sleuths, but the well-intentioned private detective tends to turn the simplest case into a disaster. That's why Harry's maniacal boss, Eliot Draisen, selects him to investigate the kidnapping of a rich heiress; Draisen himself is behind the crime, and he's hoping that Harry will perform as dismally as he usually does. But, with more than a few tricks up his sleeve, Harry may end up cracking the conspiracy despite himself.

An outlandishly fluffy whodunnit farce that generates its inspired nuttiness from the likable John Candy. Go to Full Review

Apr 26, 2019 it's a John Candy film. You know what you're in for and this one delivers so 5*
Luke S Jan 29, 2019 While its not Candys' best its certainly underapeciated.
Leia W Oct 4, 2018 A childhood favorite! So funny and well done.
Abraham R Sep 20, 2018 Predictable, funny, quote-worthy movie, starring the late, great John Candy. The cast works well together as a goofy vehicle for Candy. As long as you don't take it too seriously (and who would?), you should be entertained. Those who pan the movie have to realize that it wasn't meant to be an Academy Award-winning film--just silly, light-hearted fun. See more
Theodore R May 5, 2007 Thank you Mr. Candy, we barely knew you. Just who is Harry Crumb? A hoot for Candy fans, find out as a detective agency who bears his family name barely remembers its founders. Harry is the last of a long line of family heirs to the business, but is only remotely thought of by the head of this dubious enterprise. Barely thought of until the head wants to blackmail for 10 million ransom the daughter of the owner. This film is tedious at times and mostly slapstick. But John Candy saves this film from utter mediocrity and pure stupid. Oh yes, don't have the kids watch this one with you, it has too much graphic visual adult humour. See more
