Johnny Cash gets the biopic treatment in this superior portrait of the man, his music, the demons he battled and the love that saved him. Go to Full Review

Walk the Line -- although conspicuously well acted -- is really no different from previous efforts, and that's a good thing. It shares the charm of the (musical biopic) genre. Go to Full Review

“Walk the Line” may not be reinventing the wheel, but the film holds up incredibly well in the unique talents of remarkable performers who maintain Mangold’s vision. Go to Full Review

This is not a malicious or embarrassing work; the viewer simply feels that Mangold has not genuinely tackled a single one of the complex and potentially rich problems bound up with the lives of Cash and Carter. Go to Full Review

Hermione G Feb 26, 2019 The formula used for the biopic is very special , I love how the movie had a sense of fun while telling all the good and bad things that happened. Never lost its focus and that is what makes a great movie in my opinion See more
Anakin S Dec 25, 2018 Joaquin Phoenix portrays Johnny Cash in this film. He had a spouse and worked in the airforce for a while to support her. This represents a working class man trying to make his way in the world. He eventually started to work on a music career instead. He played mostly country songs. He met a girl named June Carter. He developed an interest in her. This represents a man pursuing his dreams. Because of their shared love of country music, June Carter is the perfect match for him. He left her and got back together with his ex spouse. This was him being unsure of what he wanted, who he loved. June was heartbroken. This was a loss for her Johnny began to drink alcohol and was single for a while. This represents him being "down in the dumps". He met up with June Carter again. This represents him falling back in love with his soulmate. See more

See more
Kylo G Apr 29, 2018 get yourself up.. Walk The Line The feature clocks for more than 2 hours where the actors and the characters suffer for art that is achingly good and pleasurable to watch but unfortunately it chews off way too much to make the same predictable point that it easily could have quite earlier. James Mangold's brilliant execution and depiction of Johnny Cash clearly displays his love and emotion for him that James doesn't fail to express it in here on any level. Joaquin Phoenix is stunning on his portrayal of Johnny Cash and is supported nicely by Reese Witherspoon throughout the course of the feature. Walk The Line has stellar performance on its side along with brilliant execution, but lacks completely on other factors like gripping screenplay, better editing and a fresh intake on biographies which it had a window to go for.
