Following a childhood tragedy, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) follows a long and winding road to music stardom. Dewey perseveres through changing musical styles, an addiction to nearly every drug known and bouts of uncontrollable rage, until finally, he wins the heart, but not necessarily the body, of his loyal backup singer, Darlene (Jenna Fischer).

Critics Consensus

A parody that pokes fun at rock stars and reductive biopics alike, this comedy sings in large part because of stellar performances and clever original music.

The danger with a parody is that the joke can get old quickly, but Walk Hard is blessedly full of laughs that would stand up even outside of the spoof framework.

This movie is pure parody genius and it's a shame people didn't appreciate a true modern masterpiece that combined humor and heart.

Underated and overlooked comedy with Great music and performances. Much better than sleeping pills like "Walk the line" and "Rock of Ages"

From the very beginning, I was waiting for this movie to end, which is incredibly rare for me. I'm not sure I laughed once. The satirical take on "Ray" was really stupid. The parody where Meadows is smoking bud instead of shooting up heroin. How is that funny? The scene where he's producing a song that he is trying to perfect using randomly absurd crap as a satire to Ray Charles producing "Georgia On My Mind", might be even dumber. Don't forget "Let's go drop acid with the Beatles". I guess when you surround yourself with "yes" men and you have ton of money, you can actually live out your fantasy of your "Hey, man you know what would be so cool and funny?.." moments on screen.

I don't know what it says about me as a person (and I DGAF) but it seems a lot of folks didn't care for this movie on Rotten Tomatoes but I LOVED this movie. I laughed so much and so deeply. It was so, so friggin' funny!!! I need to find a man who thinks this movie is the bees knees. That's my soul mate!!
