Critics Consensus

Absurd even by Bond standards, A View to a Kill is weighted down by campy jokes and a noticeable lack of energy.

Moore is worth every wrinkle on his face in "A View to a Kill," the seventh movie he has made in the Bond series and the most enjoyable since "Moonraker" back in the '70s. Go to Full Review

The film also fails on other traditional Bond levels. For example, the gadgets. Zorin and his gang have an inflatable dirigible, but so what? The key to the best Bond gadgets has been that they were something you might want to own yourself. Go to Full Review

It's not double-oh-seven anymore, but double-oh-seventy, the best argument yet for the mandatory retirement age. Go to Full Review

It is a film that is perfectly watchable, but at the same time is completely forgettable and unremarkable. Go to Full Review

It features a killer Duran Duran theme song but strikes out in nearly every other regard. Go to Full Review

A View to a Kill is nowhere near as reviled as its reputation suggests. It might not be the proper send-off Roger Moore deserved, but the film has a great sense of fun, and its Villains are in a league of their own. Go to Full Review

Hagrid W Apr 25, 2019 Overall, while this is not one of the best Bond films in the series it is still fairly solid as a whole. It is strange, it is over-the-top and completely unbelievable but, lets be honest, some of the best Bond films fit that bill much of the time. If this is your first time watching one of 007's adventures, you could have started with much worse. https://latetothegame.blog/2019/04/11/key-movies-of-my-life-james-bond-edition-a-view-to-a-kill-1985/ See more
Hermione P Apr 16, 2019 This one is imo unfairly hated. It's easily one of the better escapist Bond films and a solid finale for Moore, who in all fairness had been around 6/7 years too long at the least. You can tell he was in hardly any of the action scenes but if you simply ignore that then you will make it thru it. The story takes a little bit to get going but when it does it's damn fun. Roberts is only there for the sex appeal but you get Jones as May Day who is one of the more enjoyable villanesses and you get Walken as Zorrin who is one of the top 5 villains. What's not to love there? Great action and a killer climax makes for a fun 2nd half. This one never fails be fun. The end itself is a solid finale for Moore. That being said I'd be lying if I didn't say I wish Dalton coulda done this one.. Dalton as Bond vs Zorrin woulda been incredible. See more
Draco R Mar 29, 2019 SIr Roger's not-so-graceful exit from the Bond roll. Walken as a Bond villain cannot be taken too seriously. Still, it is a fun romp with a good (not great) story. See more
Finn R Nov 5, 2018 what i liked about this movie was - Mayday
Harry S Oct 10, 2018 Duran Duran's titular them song and Walken have to be the only good parts of this movie because the rest is just not that great See more
George G Oct 4, 2018 Despite the criticism it gets i find myself enjoying the movie. Christopher Walken might not be the soundest of villains and the blimp is an odd choice for a facedown but Roger Moore though older has boundless charm and Grace Jones as the evil henchwomam is criminally underrated. Also i find myself liking the buildup and stable scenes more than i usually like the investiagive parts of bond movies. See more
