What to Know

Critics Consensus

Still raunchy, still irreverent, and still hit-and-miss, this Harold & Kumar outing also has a Christmas miracle: The audience gets to see the sweeter side of the duo.

An extended bit featuring a strung-out toddler borders on offensive and isn't amusing in the slightest, so much of the picture leaving me as cold as an Arctic winter. Go to Full Review

Not nearly as subversive as it purports to be, but fittingly witty and wintry nonetheless. Go to Full Review

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas's slacker posturing belies a rare comedic rigour. It takes brains to be this thick. Go to Full Review

Better than the overly political first sequel but more labored than the carefree original, the third Harold & Kumar film won’t go down as a Christmas classic or the entry needed to revitalize this series anew. Go to Full Review

Harry P Jan 21, 2019 So this is a horrible movie. having said that, i really enjoyed watching it with boxxy software app. Harold and Kumar make for an amazing comedic duo. It seems that when you separate them they're never as good as when they're together If you are looking for cheap laughs, you'll find it here. See more
Albus L Dec 27, 2018 Man are they trying hard. In this movie its all about trying to get the Harold and Kumar back together. At least the second movie was mildly funny. Even the supporting characters, with the exception of NPH are boring shadows of what they were. See more
Finn W Dec 26, 2018 It's 'Cheech & Chong' millennial style. Not nearly as hilarious and formidable as the original stoner buddies of the 70-80s, but still a bit of crude fun that nods to those past films. Much like the beloved characters Cheech & Chong, Harold & Kumar are goofy stoners who find themselves gifted with inadvertent troublemaking abilities, especially in this Christmas themed movie where not even Santa goes unscathed. While the madcap acting can mostly feel artificial, much of the film is so ridiculous in nature (must suspend disbelief at all times), that it may put a smile on your face, or be mildly enjoyable at minimum....IF one is not offended by drug and sex humor. The movie isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's a stoner/drug/sex fantasy of sort with two adults who've passed their 30th birthday, but still need a coming-of-age lesson during their holiday season. *NOT* a movie for the kiddos; it's rated "R" for a reason, dude. Now pass the bowl. ;) See more
Draco R Apr 23, 2017 What a hilarious worthy sequel!
Han S Feb 7, 2017 4/5. Another excellent sequel in the Harold & Kumar series and a great Christmas movie.
Rey R Feb 7, 2017 A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, and it stars John Cho and Kal Penn in a Christmas comedy about Harold (John Cho) living his own life in his house with his wife, while Kumar (Kal Penn) is not living his life and is instead living his life smoking and living in an apartment with his roommate when all of a sudden, he gets a package that belongs to Harold, and he goes over his house to deliver the package, and the package kind of screwed up Harold's situation and they have to fix the situation that brought them into more shenanigans. I have not seen the previous films yet as this is the first that I've seen from these duos, but to my surprise, I wasn't that confused about what's going on, and I enjoyed what I watch from this. The acting is pretty solid from John Cho and Kal Penn that I understand how they made three movies out of this series. The plot is very simple, but for fans of this, they are just here to laugh, and for this, there are tons of jokes that are really funny. It even makes fun of 3D at times, which I didn't watch in 3D, but I was well-aware of the 3D material in this as they shove it up your face, and it can get some laughs, even if the 3D wasn't that great. Some of the jokes can become stale, but there are still jokes after that which would make you forget about it, and the cameo by Neil Patrick Harris as himself is really funny to watch. Some of the effects are really good, especially the clay animation which I didn't realize at the time that it was done by Laika, the same company that had done Caroline and Paranorman. It does show a bit of the Christmas spirit, which gives this more of a purpose of being a Christmas movie where some of the movies didn't really have much to do with Christmas. It can get really raunchy, which can be funny at times, but can just be the sake of being gross with nothing comedic with it. With that said, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas is a great comedy that when I do get a hold on the previous films, I'll give them a shot at it. See more
