The life of white-collar New Yorker Peter (Nicolas Cage) seems to revolve solely around making as much money and sleeping with as many women as possible. After a typical night of scouring trendy bars for some action, Peter manages to take home the sexy Rachel (Jennifer Beals), who bites him on the neck while they're in bed. The next day, Peter is certain he is now a vampire. Though no one shares his point of view and he hasn't changed physically, he dons fake fangs and begins stalking women.

[Juggles] satire, goofball comedy, and unexpected human tragedy with an assurance that is as impressive as it is intentionally discombobulating. Go to Full Review

Think of Vampire’s Kiss as the screwy, punk flipside of American Psycho. Go to Full Review

Problem is that Cage's over-the-top performance generates little sympathy for the character, so it's tough to be interested in him as his personality disorder worsens. Go to Full Review

This is Cage’s origin, which is probably why it’s so outrageously funny and extremely painful to watch at the same time. This is an experience all Cage fans should partake in, as well as those who enjoy weird, lesser-seen gems from the period. Go to Full Review

Vampire’s Kiss strongest feature is the insane performance given by Nic Cage. He creates such a believably crazy character that you can’t help but remember bumping into people just like him on public transportation and wondering, what is their life like. Go to Full Review

One can’t help but be interested in Cage’s performance the same way one’s attention is drawn to a car accident on the freeway, but the movie would have been better served with a drastically different approach to the character. Go to Full Review

Ron W Apr 24, 2019 it's kind of hilarious, but in a bad way.
George W Jan 5, 2019 What the heck was Nicholas Cage thinking!?! That phony voice!?! Was the director so intimidated by Cage's fame that he actually agreed to Nic's interpretation or did he sincerely believe in Cage's "vision"? It's impossible to tell, but that voice was so dissident, I had a hard time hearing anything else. Cage is an Oscar-winning Best Actor; he is supposed to be above this kind of self indulgence. Very disappointed in him as well as the movie in general. Definitely not worth the price of admission. But worth watching for free if only to see Cage's outlandish performance. See more
Nov 24, 2018 Strange, darkly funny movie. I've definitely never seen another one like it. One of the best Nicholas Cage movies I've seen, for whatever that's worth... See more
Draco S Oct 12, 2018 The movie lives and dies by Cage's utterly bonkers, deeply unhinged performance-and like the character itself, the reality is that we are not within the realm of the undead, not given over to the uncanny merger of life-within-death, but rather the movie is merely, simply, brutally dead on arrival. Cage has said that this is his favorite performance of his, his favorite movie that he has been in, and it's little wonder: His over-the-top antics dominate the screen, holding nothing back in a burst of egoism mistaken for creativity. The end result is confused, shallow, cruel, misogynistic, and largely boring once you get past the initial shock. See more
Anakin P Sep 27, 2018 Vampire's Kiss shows that any movie is elevated by having Nicolas Cage in it.
Draco R Aug 5, 2018 watch this movie. there is intentional bad acting and confusing and messed up scenes but is self aware and still has some psychological creepy and unnerving scenes that have a slight dark an satiric tone. It is one of the most intersting and fascinating movies i have ever seen. The acting is horrible but good at the same time, because it fits in with the story so well. It is very over the top that it works in this films universe and also works with us (the audience). Basically this is the original American Psycho. The genres I would give this movie is satire/dark comedy/psychological horror. If anyone who reads this and then has interest in watching this movie, you can watch it for free on VUDU movies and TV. Unfortunately there is adds, but not too much. I would definitely recommend it and I think you will be pleasently suprised. See more
