Critics Consensus

The Uninvited is moody and reasonably involving, but suffers from predictable plot twists.

As in the original, the film slyly manipulates the audience's perspective, and a brilliantly filmed climactic 'reveal' marks this British duo as a pair to watch.

It's ridiculous for a reason. Watch till the end of a valuable life lesson. Given the ratings it's gotten, it doesn't seem as if people watched it to the end or maybe ... they just don't have the capacity to appreciate this important lesson. Show it to someone you suspect of having ... screwball issues.

Overall an alright film. Although the idea was decent, the execution made the plot-twists not hard to interpret before their actual revelation. The soundtrack & Banks' acting were the best aspects of this film.

A teen girl returns home from the insane asylum after witnessing her sickly mother's violent death. In the time she had been gone, her father had become romantically-involved with her mother's former nurse (Elizabeth Banks). Believing the nurse to have been responsible for her mother's death, she and her sister do detective work in order to uncover the nurse's past, only to discover something very surprising. Slow and times, but the suspense does build toward the end. (I actually meant to watch the movie from the '90s with the same name, lol!)

If you want to make a horror movie, you need to actually have a decent script to link the jumps or the jumps don't even hop. You also need to care about the characters, not despise them and want them all to fall off the pier and drown. Annoying, inane and just plain poor. Find something better.
