What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though The Ultimate Gift avoids religious speechifying like other Fox Faith films, it's dramatically inert with flat direction.

This new film moves along smoothly until Grandpa's most preposterous mission - which needlessly drags out the movie -- takes Jason to a severely caricatured Ecuador. Go to Full Review

I think urban sophisticates can be people of faith who want to see movies, occasionally, that don't have the four-letter words, and I do embrace religion, but I think they have to be better than this. Go to Full Review

Hermione W Dec 24, 2018 Utimate Gift is a redemption story. Jason Stevens is a spoiled rich kid who goes to his grandfather's funeral only to be schooled by the dead guy that life is about more than money. This movie is well done with maybe not top notch acting and effects, but it felt like a real movie and not a direct-to-video affair. There are some fairly recognizable faces in the movie as well. The story is heartwarming and the pacing fairly strong. On the down side, some of the scenes just didn't ring true. Somewhere about the second test, Jason all of a sudden becomes a good guy? His conversion seemed almost non-existant. What was up with that out of context trip to South America and the books? The love story also felt a bit tacked on. See more
Dec 14, 2018 One of the most beautiful movies I have seen. It has great life messages that make you realize the really important things in life. See more
Abraham M Aug 15, 2018 MY adult international students and I LOVE The ULTIMATE GIFT! The 3 Novels are great too! I haven't seen the sequel, The Ultimate Life, yet, but we will! See more
Jun 24, 2018 84% of the audience like the movie. Critics hated it (32%). glad to see the critics are so far detached from their audiences and lack the soul this movie sought to teach them. Yea, wouldn't want to give a film of faith high ratings...might upset all the other trash you guys are puking out. See more
Mar 30, 2018 Engaging and uplifting movie--even if slightly over the top in some parts. Disregard the cynical analysis of some critics. See more
Kylo S Mar 26, 2018 An inspirational and thoughtful film, but it's also flat and sometimes boring.
