What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though Two Weeks Notice has nothing new to add to the crowded genre, Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock make the movie a pleasant, if predictable, sit.

It is not so bad as to make you dash for the door. But you would not have missed much if you never entered the hall at all. Go to Full Review

Predictable romantic comedy. Go to Full Review

Structurally, the film's off-kilter. The start of the relationship is rushed through, while the supposedly crucial notice period feels increasingly directionless. Which leaves the comic strand - and that, by and large, delivers. Go to Full Review

Bullock plays an environmental attorney who boasts that she’s like a "bobcat" and a "pretzel" in the sack — this is in direct opposition to the movie itself, which is more like a defanged kitten and a soggy cracker. Go to Full Review

Its utter prototypicality is tiresome, and its weird plotting and characterisation preclude it from gaining the simplified happy ending it proposes it has arrived at. Go to Full Review

Luke W Nov 27, 2018 Somehow I made it 16 years without seeing this, and it was a simpler time. I find Sandra Bullock always sweet and charming, but even she couldn't save this waste of time. The plot is so thin, neither of these characters make you want to root for them, and you are given VERY little evidence that they should be together! Snooze fest all around. See more
Anakin P Nov 4, 2018 "Two Weeks Notice" follows a lawyer who spends her free time protecting the destruction of older buildings around her, only to end up getting a job from the man who likes to destroy those same buildings. Starring Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock, the two have a banter throughout the film that makes it difficult not to laugh out loud. Bullock's slightly uptight Lucy has to guide Grant's lost puppy of a character that is George in a way that makes it apparent by the end that the two are not quite the same without each other. It takes what could be a cheesy romantic comedy and makes it a little more realistic and believable. The story made me feel good, as it's endearing to see the "opposites attract" dynamic play out. It made me think that, at least in this case, they actually could! Written by Marc Lawrence, the banter was my favorite part of the film. Having directed the film as well, Lawrence was able to expand off of that with Bullock's comedic bits where she falls down the stairs on the boat and runs into the tree in her office. It is that situational comedy that made me enjoy the film that much better! Edited by Susan E. Morse, the pacing of the film felt very easy and fluid. As the cinematographer, Laszlo Kovacs paints New York out to be a bright, sunny, and beautiful place to live. In terms of the audio and sound design, I felt that the film sounded great and was consistent throughout. There didn't at any point seem to be any disconnects in the sound. The production value was great, it was certainly professional work and was really well-done throughout. Personally, I didn't want anything done differently. The film proves to be one of my favorites of the genre because I enjoy what they did with it! See more
George W Sep 9, 2018 Hated it. As much as I love Sandra Bullock I found her love intrest to lack compassion, likability, obstacles or general character development. He was brash, ill mannered and lacked consideration for anyone or really anything. Throughout the movie he sleeps with anyone and gets anything he wants. By the end he "shockingly" gets exactly what he wants with little to no effort. See more
Hermione R Mar 28, 2018 Very funny and romantic movie that I loved.
Rey R Feb 16, 2018 Very predicable ending
Abraham R Feb 3, 2018 Great movie. Funny, and Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant's relationship makes me crack up.
