What to Know

Critics Consensus

Loosely based on 1957's 12 Angry Men, Nikita Mikhalkov's superbly acted 12 is clever and gripping like its predecessor, but with a distinctly Russian feel.

Old soul Nikita Mikhalkov's appropriation of the 12 Angry Men template is a bloated series of harangues that feels too long even before its full 154 minutes have shuffled by. Go to Full Review

The film transforms Rose's play into a ballet of sorts. The story is as much about movement as it is about words. Go to Full Review

Jan 27, 2019 the whole half of the film consists of disjointed words that do not support the plot, itï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s also one of the frequent problems of the film that the characters drastically change their opinions without arguments, for example one says something more than to touch on the main topic to vote sharply, without facts, without arguments. Also throughout the film, you will hear the often repeated mercies. It turned out a rather ordinary Russian film with only good editing. See more
Leia W May 31, 2018 Nikita Mikhalkov's long but engrossing update on 12 Angry Men.
Theodore P Jan 21, 2017 i found this movie riveting. Extremely well-written script, superbly acted, beautiful camera work, with interesting and moving personal stories revealed as the characters are developed while they contribute to the analysis of the crime. i was fascinated too that such a lengthy movie with so little action could be so compelling.
