There are a lot of tricks in this movie, and a lot of treats - that isn't just a cheesy Halloween reference, it's the visible intended design of this funny, weird, sometimes actually unsettling movie.

Trick ‘r Treat’s intercut stories undermine both its stylistic homage to EC comics and the viewer’s engagement in each story, but the film succeeds largely on the strength of its iconic and original villain - Sam, and a handful of suspenseful scenes.

Like a full trick-or-treat pillowcase, this film offers an assortment of unique and engaging stories, each with scares, laughs, twists and screams. As the stories start to intertwine, you will slowly start to realize the genius behind the camera. Features an all-star cast, including Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker and Bryan Cox!

This is, with George A. Romero's Creepshow (1982) and V/H/S (2012), one of the best anthology horrors ever. It's a spooky collection of interlocking stories, and was very fun, it's a lovely mix and humor and scares. It makes for a perfect Halloween treat. The acting is good, and it's a ghoulish, well made film, worthy for sure of its cult classic status, while also making light references to older classic of the genre like Halloween (1978) and Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987). A cool horror movie and recommended !!
