Fresh out of prison, Alvin and Dave Firpo pull their brother Bill back into a life of crime. But the siblings' foolproof bank heist takes a tailspin when Alvin gets lost in the getaway car. That's how the criminal nitwits wind up trapped in the snowbound burg of Paradise, Pa., on Christmas Eve with a bag full of stolen cash. With suspicious police on one side and hospitable townsfolk on the other, could a change of heart be far away?

Critics Consensus

Loaded with talent but borderline unwatchable, Trapped in Paradise will leave viewers feeling the first part of the title and pining for the last.

Has enough in the way of sentiment and goofy situational predicaments to put it over as a serviceable family holiday attraction.

Cage looks cold most of the time, and has retractable stubble. The rest of the cast look like they're waiting for summer.

Seeing Nicolas Cage acting with two comedians from Saturday Night Live Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey is strange but he surprisingly works well with them and has good pacing with the two comedians. Seeing the criminals having a change of heart was nice at the ending was nice.

This movie is one of the movies we watch every Christmas and it's just a classic to us anyway.

Just funny and dumb will make you laugh. Tons of little things make this hilarious and just a good movie to watch to laugh.

Honestly this would have been a four star movie if it wasn't for the bland Christmas sentimentalism BS. Ain't my scene. But Lovitz, Carvey and Cage as three very believable (wink) Brothers is absolutely the key to success. Carvey unfortunately is the weakest link as a bit too over the top, but Lovitz and Cage are on fire. There's multiple laugh out loud moments here, too bad they got lost in the Christmas mumbojumbo.
