It's not that Bay's vision for the robot-battle choreography is unimaginative. Rather, he lacks imagination to provide viewers with a way of putting all the pieces together for themselves.

Thank god the Transformers speak primarily in proper nouns--if they hadn't shouted "Optimus! Megatron!" every time they struck a blow, I'd have no idea what was happening.

After five films of explosive, mind-numbing action scenes, Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’ had run its course. ‘Bumblebee’ was a pleasant surprise, but the latest film feels straight out of a Hasbro assembly line.

This movie is excellent. It is has some amazing action and visuals, and the soundtrack is pure artistry. The Autobots looked badass as fuck, as they did in all the other movies, and the backstory was awesome. I liked Shia LaBeouf in this. Could his character have been better, yeah, but whatever. Also, Megan Fox was fucking HOT in this movie!!! Yeah I like this movie

A "critically underrated" modern classic. The epitome of what modern blockbusters were in the early 2000's (Yes, even before the MCU). Powered by energetic action sequences with one of the most emotional and majestic soundtrack ever created, Transformers might be Michael Bay's "Finest Hour"!

It's probably the second best in the series, succeeding Bumblebee. It serves its purpose to engage audiences with VFX-driven action all the way but the lack of clarity and characters we can connect with puts it a step lower than your typical summer blockbuster.
