When upper-class Parisian Charles Dupont (Melville Cooper) and his family hire Tina and Michel as their servants, they have no idea that the domestics are in fact Tatiana, the Grand Duchess Petrovna (Claudette Colbert), and her husband, Mikail, Prince Ouratieff (Charles Boyer). Recent exiles from the Russian Revolution, Tatiana and Mikail befriend the Dupont family, keeping their true identities a secret -- until one night when Soviet official Gorotchenko (Basil Rathbone) arrives for dinner.

Ron R May 10, 2018 Following closely on the heels of "My Man Godfrey" here is another Depression era flicker that offers the curious thrill of watching high and mighty types reduced (as it were) to servile positions. This one stars Charles Boyer and Claudette Colbert who are both powerhouse charmers in most efforts, but who are failed by a weak script that strains credulity a bit much to make its point. Still a pleasant enough effort, stolen completely by the smarmy wiles of Basil Rathbone's late entrance as, what else, villain. See more
