When a series of murders stuns a small Native American reservation, the FBI sends in agent Ray Levoi to investigate. While Ray is relatively inexperienced, he is one quarter Sioux and the FBI hopes that will make it easier for them to gather information from the locals. While the reservation police officer views the agent as an outsider, the tribal elder believes him to be the reincarnated spirit of Thunderheart, a Native American hero.

[Graham Greene's] easygoing personality certainly matches well with [Val] Kilmer’s Ray’s by-the-book mannerism, where the latter brings the ideal stoicism into his role. Go to Full Review

It was easy to take a film like "Thunderheart" for granted in its era when a smart, exciting, well-cast and politically charged thriller seemed to open every other week. Today, it feels practically revelatory — a Michael Apted gem that holds up very well. Go to Full Review

Hermione W Dec 28, 2018 Kilmer's finest role. A great movie and a good whodunit.
Kylo G Dec 24, 2017 A classic of the genre. It would be interesting to see it remade with 21st-century sensitivity and awareness.
Harry S Aug 20, 2017 Young Val, need I say more. Graham Greene is GREAT...always love it when he shows up in movie. Same with ADORABLE Chief Ted Thin Elk. Fred Ward, Sam Shepard, Fred Thompson See more
Poe L Jul 31, 2017 "THUNDERHEART" is a very good movie, one of Val Kilmers best. I hope President Trump has the wisdom to give some of the Indians land back to them and to treat them with the respect they deserve, because if your family has been in the US from the beginning there's a good chance you have Indian blood in your too. We all belong to this land, we are Americans! See more
