The animation, story and dialogue all feel so pedestrian and, despite the globetrotting theme, parochial.

The whole thing has a straight-to-DVD quality, or perhaps a TV episode padded out with a few limp songs.

It's passable entertainment for young children, though the introduction of a race car as a key character looks like a sorry capitulation to Pixar's least appealing franchise.

It's short of charm but features strong female, African and Asian characters for the first time. Toot, toot!

Didn't need to watch the movie, James A. Williams' YouTube review was good enough. Showing how much Mattel has killed Thomas and disappointed & disrespected Awdry even more. None of it even looks like it was written by Andrew Brenner. Magic Railroad looks alot better right about now. Hope to god Hasbro with hopefully a returning Britt Allcroft saves this now lackluster franchise along with Keith Chapman's Bob The Builder! Cause Thomas and his friends need a savior like right now to be Really Useful again!!

Go movie for children and I feel its one of the best so far. The biggest problem I feel is there is some historical inaccuracy within the film. One in which I can speak of is Ace. He is based of a Triumph Spitfire 1500, a car which was not created until 1975 and steam power in Britain (where the island of sodor is based) abolished steam engines in the late 60s.

Love the new characters. The entire movie has songs that my kids sing and enjoy. Best Thomas movie yet.

A very diffferent film for the Thomas the Tank Engine series, but in a good way. It's a great musical adventure with amazing songs, fun new characters and a great amount of laughs for the whole family. Nia is a wonderful addition to the series and so is Ace. Kids will really like these two and I'm sure they'll have a blast watching it. I know my nephew and I did.

As a parent and not a wannabe "critic" this film is brilliant, it sends strong messages of friendship and kept a 2 year old in his seat from start to finish. If you want to pretend to be a real critic go watch blade runner and get off your high horse :D
