Lender and Wright infuse things with a Sam Raimi-like absurdity that allows the gory mayhem to have a surrealistic spunk that had me giggling madly at almost all the right moments. Go to Full Review

An hour and fifteen minutes of tedium is too long to wait for two or three minutes of pleasantly cheesy. Go to Full Review

The execution of the ending is what seals the deal here. And let me tell you, the outcome is worth the wait. Go to Full Review

There is no reason why They're Watching needed to be found footage. And there's no reason for anyone to watch it. Go to Full Review

Rey P Oct 19, 2018 Horrible acting and not scary at all. The premise and plot aren't that interesting.
Draco L Sep 23, 2018 I love found footage movies. They can be either really cheesy or really good, and however they turn out, I usually enjoy watching them. As such, I thoroughly enjoyed the first hour or so of They're Watching. The characters' escapades in the middle of nowhere in Moldova were entertaining, and it was at least decently creepy. For 90% of the movie, this was a successful found footage film. After that, it felt like someone else was writing the script. The plot went way out into left field and the more it went on, the worse it got. All of a sudden, a good movie had turned into the Blair Witch Project, but cheesier and with more special effects. I haven't been this disappointed in a movie's ending in a long time. If it had stayed in line with the rest of the movie, it would have been a good horror movie; if the whole thing had been cheesy, I would have enjoyed how terrible it was. Instead, They're Watching just got my hopes up and then murdered them with poorly rendered lightening and frogs. See more
George W Sep 7, 2018 This is a good, fun movie if you just wanna goof off and waste some minutes. It's shot well. It's interesting throughout. The cast and script are funny. I really enjoyed it. "It doesn't take itself too seriously." Whatever that means. I think it fits. See more
Poe W Jan 8, 2018 As much as the movie aims to depict an horrific tale, I found it more of drama, a child foul. It takes three quarters to develop a story that is neither scary nor plausible. The plot is out of place. And it ranks among the worst movies I have ever watched. A total waste of time. See more
George G Dec 1, 2017 A movie about a flip-this-house film crew gives the found footage genre a reason for a higher quality production filming, which helps reduce the shaky-cam that can be difficult to digest. From there the characters are a bunch of over-blown caricatures. If the characterizations are supposed to be funny, it doesn't work, and the performances are about as good as the script allows, but some of the jokes work. Getting past the blatantly stereotypical characters is tough, but it plays to the story's expectations; ex.) is the Canadian an asshole, or is his boss the biggest asshole, and he's an asshole because of the pressure from his boss? Credit in this movie goes to the bar scene, which was by far one of the more entertaining bar scenes I've seen filmed. These guys show the bar how it really is, where people seriously don't give a f*** and just wanna get drunk without worrying about if they're fun or interesting. And then they party with the locals, which goes pretty good for awhile. It's great. So the town has had a witch problem in the past, and the locals are sensitive about it, so of course the tourists blow off cultural respect and piss off the whole town. Their respite is the remodeled house outside of town, where the film crew thinks they'll get in and get out and they won't have to worry about the town. Guessing how hiding turns out isn't difficult. And then there's the off-the-wall (or mural) climax. The characters don't really pay attention to see it coming, but there was a witch burning one hundred years before, and when their Russian tour guide tells the story, they compare it to the Salem witch trials from four hundred years before. The characters don't ask themselves why the town's witch burning was so comparatively recent. It may seem that for a town with a traditional culture also means they have a terrible education system, and the townsfolk's ignorance makes them dangerous. The story is a decent enough example of expectations versus reality, and the set-up is subtle enough to make the movie enjoyable. See more
Harry M Jun 3, 2017 Surprisingly good horror spoof of House Hunters International like reality TV set in Moldova. Great cast and chemistry with a real sense of being some backwood Eastern European country. Goes totally bat s*** crazy at the end. See more
