Gary King (Simon Pegg) is an immature 40-year-old who's dying to take another stab at an epic pub-crawl that he last attempted 20 years earlier. He drags his reluctant buddies back to their hometown and sets out for a night of heavy drinking. As they make their way toward their ultimate destination -- the fabled World's End pub -- Gary and his friends attempt to reconcile the past and present. However, the real struggle is for the future when their journey turns into a battle for mankind.

Critics Consensus

Madcap and heartfelt, Edgar Wright's apocalypse comedy The World's End benefits from the typically hilarious Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with a plethora of supporting players.

Either I've been slowly losing my sense of humour over the years - nope, just checked my pockets; still there - or these films been operating to the law of diminishing returns.

Where Shaun Of The Dead was inspired, this is comfortingly repetitive. But hey, isn't that the main attraction of any pub?

It is a more mature piece of work, which seems a peculiar way to label a zippy comedy about drinking beer and outrunning the apocalypse.

All of the performances are fantastic. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who have carried this trilogy, are incredible and they know how to play off each other.

Like what Wright, Pegg, and Frost did for horror and action, this third entry into the Cornetto Trilogy similarly lampooned while also paying tribute to the sci-fi genre, while also delivering plenty of heart.

[The movie takes] an exhausted genre and suffusing it with energy, wit, and technical bravado, but perhaps most importantly, three-dimensional characters whose serious interpersonal relationships extend the cultish material beyond its usual limitations.

Yet another classical masterpiece staring the duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I have watched this movie so many times and I still laugh. Like, tears of laughter. The script is iconic and so are the characters. The cast has a happy family feel, they are so well suited to each other as a team. And it truly pays off. Edgar Wright along with the cast are true geniuses!

Its a fun romp with a positive message. However its trapped by a formulaic twist everyone see's coming. Its not bad by any stretch! It just begs to be compared to better movies.

One of my favourite films, a group of mates getting together after years and getting drunk and becoming the same friends as they used to be, lots of references to their time there as Teenagers, great storyline
