Apu is not only the logical last act of the trilogy but a unique work in its own right. Go to Full Review

As the concluding film of a much beloved trilogy, Apur Sansar is a fitting capstone to one of world cinema’s greatest coming-of-age stories. Go to Full Review

It is a very remarkable work, lyrically acted, cut with a slow, opulent rhythm, and filmed in a black and white that seems to have a bloom on it, like a grape. Go to Full Review

What was direct has now become self-conscious. "Pather" was about a family in a village, "Apu" is about a young writer in a city, a more complex theme and I'm not sure Ray is up to it. Go to Full Review

Jan 21, 2019 I really loved this movie a lot
Luke P Jul 10, 2018 This is the conclusion of the Apu trilogy depicting Apu's life as a young man. As to be expected this part centers on the topic of love, but the movie took me fully by surprise. It's a love story (and horrific tragedy) unlike any other you will find in cinema, and for a while I was sceptical that it would turn into love in any form at all. I won't mention too much, since I can only recommend to see it for yourself. See more
Han L Dec 30, 2017 The World of Apu is a pretty good conclusion to this trilogy with a flawed, less interesting and slow first half, but pretty memorable, frequently wonderful second half with such a beautiful ending. It is much better than its predecessor thanks to a much more interesting plot plus the film is unexpectedly cinematic with terrific cinematography providing us many gorgeous shots of the country. Rey W Dec 14, 2017 The final installment of the Apu Trilogy comes full circle with now Apu in his adult years. Recently graduated from college & a burning passion to write a novel. However he finds himself lonely & longing for company & unintentionally finds himself married when his friend flees on his wife wedding day. Although not in love at first the couple fall in love quite quickly. Sadly a tragedy strikes & Apu is truly unable to move on due to all the previous loss & grief & loses his mind. Arguably in this state he truly finds himself. A beautiful, sad & tender end to a trilogy of a human life. See more
Leia W Apr 23, 2017 In this final chapter you get to see trick camera shots that go back and forth to show the emotion of how Apu is feeling. The setting and feel of this movie is more independent since you feel Apu's (Soumitra) loneliness and struggles financially. Thr final chapter was very well done! See more
