Lured to a Japan he hasn't seen since World War II, century-old mutant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) finds himself in a shadowy realm of yakuza and samurai. Wolverine is pushed to his physical and emotional brink when he is forced to go on the run with a powerful industrialist's daughter (Tao Okamoto) and is confronted -- for the first time -- with the prospect of death. As he struggles to rediscover the hero within himself, he must grapple with powerful foes and the ghosts of his own haunted past.

Critics Consensus

Although its final act succumbs to the usual cartoonish antics, The Wolverine is one superhero movie that manages to stay true to the comics while keeping casual viewers entertained.

An improvement from the first solo Wolverine movie, but still only serves as a throttled version of what is capable with the character. Go to Full Review

Apr 1, 2019 Wasn't that bad, but also wasn't that good i think.
Leia R Mar 9, 2019 Honestly not a very good movie, but i have a real soft spot for it, maybe all the other terrible Xmen films have lowered my standards See more
Finn M Feb 25, 2019 A proper Wolverine movie.
Anakin P Feb 23, 2019 While the ending is standard, The Wolverine is an excellent tale of the iconic X-Man with great action and a fantastic performance from Hugh Jackman See more
Luke S Feb 18, 2019 The only amusing thing about this movie is the surprisingly well played action scenes, other than that, the movie is filled with odd performances, weirdly played out sequence of events, and a script that can be cliche in most of the movie. Even with these problems, The Wolverine can still manage to entertain the average superhero fan, while just being another painly average Marvel film. See more
Luke S Feb 14, 2019 Great performances and a decent script makes this movie an enjoyable ride!
