Director Nick Jongerius can't entirely keep the story from feeling warmed-over, but fans should be too pleased by the movie's professionalism to complain much. Go to Full Review

Come for the supernatural tale of a bunch of sinners getting their punishment, stay for insane practical effects that will surprise even the most jaded of horror fans. Go to Full Review

... a new slasher killer that could easily get a few more movies in him if they develop him and his mythology correctly. Go to Full Review

The scenery was beautiful and the acting overall was pretty good, but I did feel that the film was a bit slow at times. Go to Full Review

It's great to see a real, old-school flick of this nature, lovingly made and presented, with a real understanding of how these movies operate and why they were so popular in the first place. Go to Full Review

The final shots of The Windmill feel like Jongerius surrendering his movie to how he thinks others would want it to end. Go to Full Review

Leia R Sep 1, 2018 its very much like Hatchet, but no Kane Hodder
Apr 14, 2018 One of the very best horror movies I have seen in a long time. An instant classic that provides genuinely entertaining scares and surprises, a decent body count and a moral lesson. The plot is simple, as is the escape plan of the remaining survivors however maybe not so easy to execute as they would like. Without over-analysing, as some reviewers have - as if expecting the story depth of Dances With Wolves or the likes - this can easily be appreciated for what it is, a blood and guts fantasy adventure into a world where you reap exactly what you have sown. Rey S Nov 27, 2017 A solid production for a familiar story with an expertly foreshadowed twist that was also familiar. Even if predictable, the twist is still also solid and fits the narrative nicely. The premise is based on a local legend with an old European feel that's used skillfully in the plot, and has a genuine windmill set piece to emphasize the legend and story. The lead female's story and performance is easy to sympathize with, even if most of us would make decisions differently than her. There are other likable characters with enough variation to their stereotypes so they appear as individuals and not merely cannon fodder for the slasher genre. A drawback, however, was the demonic entity, the Miller, who didn't have an overbearing or threatening enough presence like Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees did. Overall, not original, but unique enough where it's worth watching for being its own thing. See more
Han R Nov 26, 2017 I actually decently enjoyed the movie most of the way through, but the ending utterly ruined it. Such a disgrace to the story
Abraham W Oct 7, 2017 tell you what... this movie is not spectacular, but the last kill of the movie makes the entire thing worth it. totally didn't see it coming. & it was pretty epic. See more
Abraham M Sep 13, 2017 I will give it props for it's satisfying ending (At least, I found it satisfying). The Windmill felt similar to Hatchet (in terms of budget and look), but I found The Windmill to be a better film. What is actually going on in The Windmill is pretty darned cool. I wasn't expecting much out of this low-budget flick, but I was pleasantly surprised. See more
