In Glenview, Ohio, four pals, Evan, Bob, Franklin and Jamarcus, form a neighborhood watch group. Armed with flashlights, walkie-talkies and spiffy new jackets, the guys try to take their mission seriously, even if they spend a little time goofing off now and then. But when they discover aliens living among them and no one believes their story, they learn that they have to kick things up a notch to save the world from annihilation.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Watch uneasily mixes sci-fi elements with gross-out gags and strands its talented cast with a script that favors vulgarity over wit at nearly every turn.

This wants to be (I think) Invasion of the Body Snatchers via Ghostbusters and Attack the Block but succeeds in being nothing but its own dreadful, pitiful, tedious self. Go to Full Review

"The Watch" is a Dream Team in which no one's drawn up any plays and nobody passes the ball. Everybody just shoots and hopes for the best. Go to Full Review

There's nothing particularly offensive about the piece. But its intergalactic badness does take the breath away. Go to Full Review

It's been suggested this this flop was the victim of horrible timing, but it would have tanked at any time because it’s frequently terrible. Go to Full Review

If you're going to give guys as funny as these four stars a story, you need to be more creative than cheesy aliens. Go to Full Review

Kylo S Oct 30, 2018 Have watched this movie using boxxy software . Originally, I had NO IDEA this movie was about aliens... really surprised me... See more
Oct 20, 2018 Sure, fine. It's not necessarily a meaningful movie. It has, for the most part, almost no arcs. The plot is kind of a big lump of gum you found under the seats at a diner. It's a mess. That said, it's one hell of a good time and one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It's not a film, it's not a character study, it doesn't really have much meaning to it- it's like a 102 minute YouTube poop, but it's great in the sense that it succeeds at it's main goal, just to get a laugh out of you. If that's what you're looking for, watch this movie. Otherwise, go watch Boyhood or something. See more
Ron G Sep 7, 2018 There's a lot of rambling here, but it's still a fun "watch".
Han W Dec 9, 2017 Remember when Ben Stiller movies were above average? Yeah, what happened to that? This is an asinine comedy which makes police look inept, makes light of serious topics like infertility, and is chock full of vulgar humor. It's the humor that won me over. Don't know why, I like gross jokes. When an employee is murdered at his Costco, Stiller goes to the high school football game to enlist the community for help with a neighborhood watch. Three screwball men respond. The movie goes in a different direction than you'd imagine, when they find out aliens (the outer space kind) are involved. Merely watchable. See more
Hermione R Nov 7, 2017 This film can be summed up as dumb fun. It is very shallow but I think it can still be enjoyed despite its flaws
Harry W Apr 29, 2017 Ridiculous but still entertaining at times and there were some laughs to be had. This is the kind of movie you watch when you don't feel like thinking too much (or at all). See more
