The Unholy Trinity promises to deliver an exciting blend of action, suspense, and western grit with an all-star ensemble ready to captivate audiences this summer. A tale of revenge, dark secrets, and buried treasures, the film is set against the turbulent backdrop of 1870s Montana. It picks up in the moments before the execution of Isaac Broadway, as he gives his estranged son, Henry, an impossible task: murder the man who framed him for a crime he didn't commit. Intent on fulfilling his promise, Henry travels to the remote town of Trinity, where an unexpected turn of events traps him in town and leaves him caught between Gabriel Dove, the town's upstanding new sheriff, and a mysterious figure named St. Christopher.

Critics Consensus

The Unholy Trinity wrangles some committed performances from its seasoned cast for intermittent entertainment, but ultimately feels weighed down by uninspired storytelling and lackluster action.

If following The Unholy Trinity’s various tracks is sometimes frustrating, it’s still rare enough: a red-blooded and essentially satisfying western.

But while there are some flashes of wry humour dotted throughout – can a movie with Jackson ever not have at least a little twinkle in its eye? – this is mostly a straight-shooting exercise in genre.

They’re all trying to make a meal out of starvation rations. The cast’s efforts aren’t in vain, and the film is better for having them, but a thing can get a whole lot of 'better' before it gets 'good.'

This Western has some logical slip-ups and a few other flaws, but it looks and sounds great and has some thoughtful moments, and Brosnan and Jackson both give likable, amusing performances.

It’s an entertaining entry into the genre, and while it doesn’t break a whole lot of new ground, there is enjoyment to be had seeing seasoned pros like Brosnan and Jackson spit out tough guy lines while brandishing a six-shooter.
