What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's all but impossible to add anything new or fresh to the traditional Western, but -- thanks in no small part to Mads Mikkelson's performance -- The Salvation comes close.

In an untamed world where hypocrisy is loud and where no one can be trusted, salvation is one's own business and actions speak louder than words. Go to Full Review

Any temptation for dead weight and drag has been smartly trimmed, not only by the man-of-few-words acting, but also by the basic revenge story framework that always delivers in this genre. Go to Full Review

There is a story buried under all this dirt and grime, and it is a fairly interesting one, but writer/director Kristian Levring doesn't seem too interested in it. Go to Full Review

Draco R Feb 11, 2019 this was pretty good western movie
Hagrid R Nov 17, 2018 This film was almost good.
Finn R Aug 12, 2018 brilliant movie and gripping thoughout.
Kylo S Oct 10, 2017 Fantastic western, I didn't see this coming!
Harry S Oct 4, 2017 Severe and violent revenge Western that doesn't offer a lot of surprises along the way. While the daylight scenes look great and remind of classics of the genre, the cloudy twilight and night scenes are so full of CGI they look horribly fake. Still, fans of a pretty straight forward John Wick in the West kind of flick could find satisfaction here. Either way it's over sooner than you can blink. See more
Poe S Sep 25, 2017 This Movie does not try to be anything other than exactly what it is. If only we all had that clarity. In life there is no good or bad, just actions and consequences. The rest is useless whining cowardly excuses. Great Movie. See more
