An unorthodox college professor leads his best students off the grid to perform a dangerous experiment to create a poltergeist. Operating under the theory that paranormal activity is triggered by negative human energy, the group uses a series of tests to push a young woman to the edge of sanity. Frightening occurrences with unspeakable consequences subsequently unfold, leading the researchers to the realization that they have unleashed a force more terrifying than they could have imagined.

Critics Consensus

While it definitely sports a few palpable scares, The Quiet Ones finds Hammer Films trading too heavily on past glories.

This lack of plausible narrative is either the result of lazy filmmaking or shortcut editing. Either way, you lose. Go to Full Review

The film seems to mimic [Professor] Coupland's scientific method: Throw everything into the beaker, crank up the Bunsen burner, and hope the experiment works. In both cases, it doesn't. Go to Full Review

While the movie has all the feel of a classic Hammer production (old buildings, dark shadows, moody set pieces), the story never really has enough oomph. Go to Full Review

Although there are some script holes and unanswered questions, and yes, some of the unavoidable horror tropes, at the end of the day, there's nothing quiet about The Quiet Ones. It screams frightening terror. Go to Full Review

A solid, entertaining effort that suggests the freshly-risen corpse of Hammer Studios won't be returning to the crypt any time soon. Go to Full Review

Feb 8, 2019 What I like the most is there is no for shadowing music, the scares just happen and makes you jump
Nov 2, 2018 Fergus Stapleton. This has an interesting premise and a cool 70's vibe. A decent cast and some good locations/atmosphere. It just never really gets going in an effective way with a clunky story, average scares and a cliched back story added in to explain things. Overall an unremarkable horror film worth a look for Harris/Cooke and the 70's setting. See more
Anakin L Oct 1, 2018 Strange movies but with the low quality horror movies out there, this one is worth watching
Luke R Aug 29, 2017 Worth a watch, a quality film, perhaps predictable but the suspense is managed well, a worthy addition to the genre and the Hammer catalogue. See more
Kylo W May 28, 2017 O filme tem um monte de referências de filmes de terror da década de 1970 com a adição de várias perspectivas atuais. Só não entendi o que tentaram fazer com tudo isso junto. See more
Han L Jan 12, 2017 This movie was a lot better then I thought it was gonna be. I remember watching this and being so scared I had to pause the movie and breath. The end I feel is what really gets you because the end scene an kinda throw you off. I thought it was really good and I would totally watch it again! See more
