A creative and energetic adaptation of a Clive Barker short story, with enough scares and thrills to be a potential cult classic.

this devilishly ambiguous thriller leaves viewers to decide whether to take the conventional or the less-traveled tunnel through its narrative network - and the results are a stylishly bloody descent into madness, murder and hell itself. Go to Full Review

Poe P Dec 30, 2018 I'll admit that I turned on Midnight Meat Train with pretty low expectations, as it made a measly 3.5 million at the box office and was out of theaters before you could finish saying its title, and that is a real shame, because for me viewing this movie was an intense and enjoyable experience. Bradley Cooper gave a decent performance, but who I was really impressed with was Vinnie Jones (especially since he literally had one line of dialogue throughout the whole movie). It wasn't until I watched Midnight Meat Train that I realized how vulnerable one could be in a virtually empty subway train at 2:00 A.M. Okay sure, I would be lying if I said that there wasn't some violent content in here that will some put people off, but I hope people can look past that and see the genuinely brilliant storytelling behind this project based off of a short story by Clive Barker, who isn't quite Stephen King, but still a respectable author. The plot follows a vegan photographer named Leon (Cooper), who begins to suspect a mysterious man named Mahogany to be behind the disappearances of people, but there is far from enough evidence for any charges to be pressed. But Leon is positive that he is right, and attempts to expose Mahogany for his crimes. Circling back to violence, the gory scenes can be a bit exaggerated, but in the end, the filmmakers were interested in more than blood and violence, and it shows in the tension and energy that this film successfully creates. It definitely deserved a wider release. See more
Hermione P Dec 23, 2018 The end is what it is, but the rest of this movie is intense, bloody and awesome!
Ron R Nov 24, 2018 Struggling photographer Leon Kauffman's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer, Mahogany, the subway murderer who stalks late-night commuters -- ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways imaginable. I have no Idea how I missed this freaking awesome film #1. Brooke Shields #2. A creative and energetic adaptation of a Clive Barker short story. #3. Gruesome #4. Grisly #5. Bloody . #6. Vinnie Jones as the 'maniac' . I Frigging dig this gore feast of a film that gets darker and darker as the story arc progresses . It's excessively and imaginatively gory. So thoroughly coated in over-the-top blood and guts that even veteran genre fans will likely be astounded. Except most thread members of ; AVS October fun: 31 days of Horror, Blood, Guts and Gore! (and zombies, too....) . Directed By: Ryuhei Kitamura and screen play by Jeff Buhler - Producer Clive Barker . The synergy of these men produced one hell of a bloody psycho thriller that is amazingly realistic and alarming. Great film . See more
Finn R Oct 15, 2018 Not scary, lots of gore, ok plot/story, waste of very talented cast. Not worth seeing again.
Finn P Mar 16, 2018 This movie is a good horror but sometimes they're only chopping and hacking at the story in an attempt to double down on the gore and despair. When used correctly gore can be used to send a message to the viewer either emotional or otherwise but in this film it seems to be used mostly for the shock value it will offer the audience, it's a very interesting story and original from the other horror films, worth a watch for the die hard horror fan. Rey R Mar 6, 2018 F. It's hard to botch a horror gore film, but this is the movie that accomplishes that feat. The plot is nonexistent and horribly botched until you realize the whole movie is a metaphor innuendo for a gay man coming out of the closet (main character). Please reference the anal sex scene, the death of the girlfriend at the end, and him mindlessly accepting his new role (which again kills the plot and makes no sense). Don't forget that title. Don't watch this, even if you're desperate. See more
