While the maid is hauntingly well played by Paula Garces, her character doesn't make sense. Why would an illegal immigrant from Columbia think it's a good idea to involve the police? She is written more like a naïve American girl who goes to Columbia than the reverse. Other than the problem with the maid's character, I was pulled into the family drama of a father who tries to protect his son, even though that son is nothing like himself, and how his attempts at damage control spiral far beyond anyone's control. The story also brings to mind the many women in real life who leave their impoverished countries to work as maids in settings where they are isolated from the outside world.
