Nat, an aspiring photographer, is heading toward a bright future in art school in Los Angeles and wants to find the real America en route to new beginnings out West; Richard, a lovably unkempt motormouth, is simply looking for a connection while he grapples with indecision, past mistakes and dead ends. As they travel through the American Southwest, crossing paths with an assortment of oddball characters, both passengers come alive through the possibilities of the open road.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Long Dumb Road navigates the odd couple road trip comedy formula fairly smoothly, thanks mainly to the chemistry between Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas.

Neither long nor dumb, Hannah Fidell's "The Long Dumb Road" is in reality a terrifically entertaining odd couple road comedy expertly navigated by costars Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas. Go to Full Review
Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture Nov 9, 2018
Mantzoukas brilliantly juggles all the different forces of Richard's personality so that we never quite know what to make of this guy, which in turn means that we never quite know what will happen next with him and Nat. Go to Full Review

Theodore G Apr 26, 2019 This should have been called the Long Dumb Movie. Don't waste your time.
Hagrid W Apr 21, 2019 I'm not a fan of this type of movie but, this was well done. The characters were believable. I wouldn't do that, but I believe people would do that. See more
Abraham S Mar 15, 2019 What separates this from the usual road comedy is the great chemistry and performances of the two leads. Manzoukas as the manic drifter and revellori as the hapless student caught up in increasingly reckless behavior gives us a lot of laughs. Great supporting cast as well. See more
Anakin R Mar 1, 2019 A great road trip move and it's great seeing Jason Mantzoukas taking on leading roles as he should be doing
Feb 25, 2019 Charming journey with two extremely lovable lead characters.
Luke P Feb 6, 2019 Started out promising, but as this road trip movie progressed it just seemed to deteriorate. As two polar opposite personalities, Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas, are thrown together by circumstance their misadventures for the most part just don't work on screen, as I see it. There are some laughs along the way but I felt this kind of set-up just never lived up to its potential or gelled into a funny screwball comedy. See more
