Mr. Boettcher knew those men, puts faces to their names. As he says, every soldier's story is different, and they all bear telling. Go to Full Review

Great live action footage fails to make up for poor narration and organization. Go to Full Review

The result isn't as cumulatively powerful as intended, but it remains politically even-handed and offers some immersive insight along the front lines. Go to Full Review

Rey S Mar 22, 2019 Undoubtedly an interesting look at the inside lines of combat. It's unfortunate that the peak moments of the film were merely talked about and not shown. The obvious sound effects of gunfire and bullets flying by ultimately cheapened the experience and gave the viewer hope of a climax that just didn't happen. See more
Poe S Jan 31, 2019 This film appears to be a joint collaboration with military Information Operations. The broad point the film attempts to make is "US military good guys, Taliban bad". Massive military power inserted into a wretched Afghan village (certainly doesn't look like Berlin circa 1945). The suicide bombing looks like a cut and paste edit. Six children casualties, but despite the quick image of an utterly destroyed Humvee, no mention of US casualties. Odd. Well that was in 2014 and here we are in 2019 and the military situation continues to deteriorate (from our perspective) despite the upbeat ending of the film. Sad See more
Aug 22, 2018 This film is one of the most amazing heroic efforts of two journalists, who put their lives at risk to . bring first-hand accounts about the war inAfghanistan. This is a must see film for every single American. See more
Jul 4, 2018 Excellent documentary showing us what our troops have to go through. 5 stars for sure
Kylo L Nov 5, 2017 The Hornet's Nest: Award-winning ABC News war correspondent Mike Boettcher and his son Carlos embed themselves with U.S. military troops in Afghanistan in this 2014 documentary, which features a fascinating, rare glimpse of a deadly mission in the notoriously hostile Helmand Province. Once the documentary shifts away from the tedious, self indulgent father/son relationship and onto the actual troops, with its rare battleground footage, camaraderie and heart wrenching ending it becomes a captivating tribute to those who died in battle. Poe R Sep 12, 2017 Im a Marine with 3rd Battalion 1st Marines Weapons Company in OEF '10. This movie hits close, took me back and brought up memories left and right. I'm so thankful I have this little time capsule to look back at in 20 years to relive this time in my life. God bless all the Men that gave all. I love all of you, weather I knew you or not! See more
