Critics Consensus

The Call builds plenty of suspense before taking a problematic turn in the third act.

This film is a whole lot scarier than you think it's going to be. Go to Full Review

This is a cleverly made, smartly written, totally satisfying armrest-gripper. Go to Full Review

The Call is the kind of vaguely smart, extremely gory gloop you should watch on TV, preferably when you're tucked up in bed with a delirium-inducing fever. That way, you won't notice when the script goes bonkers. Go to Full Review

There is just enough tension and just enough suspense to keep you invested. Unfortunately the eye-rolling ending almost undoes everything the film does right. Go to Full Review

Hermione R Jan 20, 2019 pretty entertaining. But the ending....d'oh...
Jul 22, 2018 The beginning of the movie it has you at the edge of your seat. But where if looses me is when she's still in the office replaying the audio where she can clearly hear a flag pole, that part I figured out myself before she goes to the house that the police had gone to. It's full of utterly stupid moments that it makes me wonder if they did their research. Wouldn't the police have canvassed the area? Could've followed up with her suspicions, and when she was at that abandoned house and somehow found the broken cell and didn't call the police.. well at that point I lost my patience with the ignorance. It portrays women to be complete morons that can't follow instructions or do what they're suppose to specially being a "911 operator". It's an unbelievable plot. I've seen criminal shows that are way better than this ridiculous movie. See more
Finn S May 27, 2018 A gripping and tense horror pic, director Brad Anderson has done a good job on this one. There are a lot of nail-biting scenes in this movie and the screenplay is fast and well written, it jumps with the theme right at you. Halle Berry was a excellent choice to play in this film, and I was also impressed with the twisted performance by Michael Eklund. It has a bit of gore too, but that isn't even why this film is scary, it's the suspense and demented tone that makes this film worth it. Overall, an entertaining horror film that's worth any genre fan's time. Recommended !! See more
Theodore R Feb 17, 2018 A pretty good edge of your seat thriller. At the end it seemed a little silly to have a 911 operator try to save a kidnapped girl without any help or back-up. Other than that a good film to watch in the dark if you are in a thriller movie mood. See more
Finn W Feb 5, 2018 Kept me on the edge of my seat! Halle Berry is such a powerful actress!
Draco M Jan 27, 2018 Extremely heart-pounding and tense; killer performance from Berry.
