The film offers moments of undemanding fun, but never truly escapes its that'll-do-for-TV approach to the scripting and visuals. Go to Full Review

Rey S Jan 22, 2017 170125: Though quite serious and violent at times, this film had me laughing out loud on a couple of occasions. That, in and of itself, makes The Gun and the Pulpit worth watching never mind its memorable cast and characters. Some greats held within including Billy One-Eye (Slim Pickens), Mr. Ross (David Huddleston), slick gunfighter Jason McCoy (Geoffrey Lewis), and the posse leader (Jeff Corey). Sally Underwood (Pamela Sue Martin) is a beauty and for a television western, this film is pretty darn entertaining. Not the happy ending I expected. The Gun and the Pulpit, being 43 years old at the time of this review, made me wonder if one day, forty years from now, we'll look back at today's television westerns and actors with such appreciation? I won't name any names but I doubt it. See more
