Warm and engaging, this has its cutesy moments and crazy Van Gogh-inspired time-travel fantasy visuals but remains appealingly grounded in relatable, sublimated adolescent fears of growing up. Go to Full Review

Beautifully-drawn Japanimation about a time-hopping schoolgirl, by turns wondrous and a little too hyper. Go to Full Review

The characters are entirely credible and likable, the simply drawn figures highly effective against the lush background artwork. Time travel has rarely seemed so joyous. Go to Full Review

Hagrid L Apr 20, 2019 Mamoru Hosoda's drama-comedy is engaging and beautifully animated, with great score to accompany it and a concept that intrigues and refreshes the time-travel concept already wasted in the genre, even when the plot at first takes its own time to become truly captivating and leaving aside the typical "anime conventionalisms", but in the end, the film demonstrates its own substance and complexity, always aware of its character's appeal, and successfully mixing humor with sentiment. Poe G Apr 17, 2019 An amazing, entertaining, incredible movie. The story is just fantastic!
Finn P Nov 15, 2018 I really enjoyed this even in spite of the fact that it was a little confusing as to whether or not the girl and her aunt are one and the same person (time-travel man). It was funny and heartwarming, with an ending that will completely catch you off guard if you are not prepared for it. Sometimes the music sounded off or the scenes lagged but over all, I've never seen anything quite like this one. See more
Theodore S Jul 16, 2018 What an amazing film! It was funny, science fictiony, romantic and dramatic at the same time. PEOPLE MUST SEE THIS ANIME, even if their not an anime fan nor familiar with the original novel like myself. MILD SPOILER: If you are curious about the main character's aunt in the movie, you should either read "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" wikipedia article AFTER watching the movie or read the original source material. Despite that, I still loved this movie!. See more
Ron R Mar 29, 2018 While it's not the best that director Hosada has done, it still manages to hold on its own with charming characters and an incredibly inventive plot. See more
Han S Aug 19, 2017 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time' blends a number of genres and has a lot more to it than meets the eye, but mostly, it's a lovely coming-of-age story that not only makes you feel for the characters, but also has some great thoughts about living in the moment and using the small amount of precious time we have on this planet wisely. It's definitely a little unbalanced and could have explored certain aspects more, but it is, nevertheless, an entertaining film. See more
