All the way from the Midwest, Stan (Stan Laurel) and Ollie (Oliver Hardy) find themselves in Paris. When Ollie falls in love with the innkeeper's daughter (Jean Parker), Stan encourages him to propose, which leads to a devastating rejection. After talking to a convincing officer (Reginald Gardiner), Ollie joins the French Foreign Legion to forget her, bringing Stan along. The two are shipped to Morocco, where they soon make a mess of things. When they go AWOL, it only makes matters worse.

Albus L Oct 17, 2018 Just a classic. Rewatched again.
Theodore G May 10, 2018 Failed romance sends the boys to the African Desert and the French Foreign Legion where their usual antics fail to make them many friends. The comedy is old hat mostly, even for them, and never rises above the dollar grab that this seems to be. Their charm gets us through, but only just barely. A song and dance bit in the middle showcases what the boys could do when they gave a damn. See more
Han S Jun 30, 2017 Even not quite top tier Laurel & Hardy is still worth anyone's time. Wonderful set-pieces include Ollie failing to take his own life after being jilted and Stan doing a Harpo with a prison bed. The Foreign Legion fortress is very obviously the RKO backlit, but again that's part of the charm. See more
