It was brave and smart of Hynes to leave her comfort zone. Her desperately angry characters linger on, just as they should. Go to Full Review

Hynes, as ever, oozes resilience and honesty. As well as showing off a mean right hook, she has crafted a moving tribute to shattered middle age. Go to Full Review
Peter Bradshaw Guardian Mar 14, 2019

It feels like a very personal film, well acted by the A-list cast that Hynes has assembled: a cathartic meditation on the need to heal, the need to confront those who do wrong and to confront yourself when you've done wrong. Go to Full Review
Bianca Garner Filmotomy Oct 11, 2024

Leia P Mar 21, 2019 Jessica Hynes proves that she should not make anything that is not comedy. The plot is laborious and revolves around the most hateable character possible. The film is advertised as a woman facing her past. I can happily point out this does not happen once. The main character is beyond egocentric and wallows in her pain to the point of boredom. The whole film has a feeling of pointlessness. This would have been alright if not for the terrible acting, poor editing and weak dialogue. Children do not speak like that. Also, marketing the film as starring russel brandÂ? is a blatant commercial fraud. See more
