Kylo R Apr 9, 2019 Another shovelful of nihilism, the umpteenth of this age of shit. (Mauro Lanari)
Feb 23, 2019 Slow burner. Nice atmoshpere. Great final.
Han S Oct 7, 2018 The build up of Tom Hardy's character, the slow unraveling of his grit and perseverance, his connection to Rocco, and his ability to hold the audience in suspense to the point they are never sure he really knows what he's getting himself into until the very last moment. Another great addition to the library of masterpieces brought to us by Mr. Hardy. See more
Harry M Oct 5, 2018 As a pretty big fan of Tom Hardy's work I was very disappointed while watching this film. The lack of emotion from Hardy in a pretty stale role tending a bar was almost unbearable. The plot surrounding his dog felt ridiculous honestly. I rather just point you towards Locke, Bronson, the Taboo series, The Revenant, Dunkirk, Inception, almost anything he's in except this one. This felt like an extremely low budget film with some decent actors. Naomi Rapace's character was almost interesting accept that she played a meek female role in which she let men dictate what she did. (But you know from her other films that she WOULD NOT put up with that crap. So- very odd casting for her in The Drop and there is SO much to be desired here. PASS! See more
Abraham S Sep 18, 2018 I've not heard of the Director Roskam but you feel that the power of this story mostly lays with the source material penned by Dennis Lehane. This is another work that can easily stand alongside 'Mystic River' or 'Gone Baby Gone'. It's helped along by some terrific performances as well, Hardy steals the show with a brilliant character piece but he's supported brilliantly by Gandolfini, Rapace and Schoenaerts. Great little film, the plot may be simplistic but everything in this film goes on between the lines, as you try to figure out everyone's angles and motivations. See more
George W Sep 3, 2018 Goodish. Interesting premise. Phenomenal cast. Plot development as thick and slow as molasses with overuse of the dog to help move the story. Unnecessarily misleading/shifty character development and awkward ending. See more
