The misfits of Mötley Crüe rise from the streets of Hollywood to the heights of international fame in the 1980s.

Critics Consensus

The Dirt celebrates the rude debauchery that Mötley Crüe's fans enjoy -- but does so with the dispiriting lack of substance that the group's critics have long decried.

Even Airheads, the 1994 comedy that spoofed Sunset Strip hard-rock culture, had a more gripping storyline and emotional arc (and certainly more laughs) than this tale of a real band that helped define that scene.

This is rock bad-boy lore as a rocking bore, an endless parade of recreated afterparty ecstasy and emptiness that robs The Dirt of the vicarious thrill it had on the page.

Netflix’s The Dirt won’t win any awards nor will it inspire any would-be musicians, but it is entertaining and offers up a compelling story about Mötley Crüe.

It was every bit as debauched and tawdry as I expected-- and a whole lot more fun! Even if you're not a fan such as I, it's still an enjoyable watch.

The Dirt is one of the best movies I have watched in a long time. In fact, I've watched it five times. I am now reading the book! I grew up listening to Motley Crue and never stopped. The movie is a must for any rock music fan!

Took a really crazy story and made is dull. Shame, as the book was great.
