An impressive oddity that deserves its renown. Go to Full Review

With admirable economy the Tohills and screenwriter Stuart Drennan establish a stand-off between men in small, dark holes who have sublimated all feeling into obsessive, possibly futile activity. Go to Full Review

There's a whole lot of digging, but not much suspense or interest dug up in "The Dig." Go to Full Review

Although the high melodrama ultimately betrays the deliberate middle section, this is a film that takes themes of redemption and forgiveness seriously. Go to Full Review

The poetic potential and emotional complexity get lost - but it's still an intriguing idea, marking an auspicious start to the Tohill brothers' career. Go to Full Review

Sep 19, 2018 Great film that captivated from the get go! Had us on the edge of our seats... I was one of the "audible gaspers" at the surprise near the end. Definitely worth a second watching! Having the Directors and Actors available for the Q & A after the screening was excellent! See more
Sep 8, 2018 Do you enjoy watching people dig? Do you prefer actors over-act rather than make genuine attempts at difficult emotional scenes? Do you like it when a movie wacks you over the head with the twist in the first act? Then you'll love THE DIG! The premise of this movie hangs on various people invested in a murder case, including a guy with nothing better in prison, not realizing that it makes no sense that a blackout drunk guy would dispose of a body by dragging it deep into a big and burying it, for 15 years. Did they check his blood alcohol content? How did he mange to bury a body without disturbing skin trace from under his nails? What year is all this taking place in? No one knows! Loran Cranitch, who plays Sean, is the stand out, pulling up the acting and the movie significantly. I'm not sure what this movie was meant to do as it didn't entertain (slug pace, could have cut runtime in half), it isn't thought provoking, it doesn't educate, create a better understanding of another person's experience, or elicit emotions. I would not recommend. 2.5 because it wasn't awful just mediocre and for Cranitch's performance. See more
