An emotional, faithful adaptation that successfully sets up its sequel by nailing the action and its characters. Hampered only by cheap animation and one-note villains. Go to Full Review

... the film presents the longest sustained fight sequence in the animated DCU, which directors Jake Castorena and Sam Liu make interesting with dramatic imagery and inventive twists. Go to Full Review

While The Death of Superman may not be a perfect film, it is a thoroughly entertaining addition to the DC Animated Movie Universe that not only pushes it in bold directions, but sets up a direct sequel adapting the equally iconic follow-up storyline Go to Full Review

The Death of Superman gives fans what they want. A strong Superman story, a great adaption of an iconic comic, awesome DC cameos and and homages to the works of the past. A worthwhile entry into the DC Animated Film collection. Go to Full Review

Apr 28, 2019 Possibly the best iteration of Superman we've seen outside of the comics. This movie is filled with both emotion and great action. For an animated movie, every single punch feels so real. See more
Theodore W Apr 3, 2019 This movie was great! I am by no means a DC fan as recent live action films have just about turned me away from the whole DC line in general but the animated movies have never disappointed. From the action to the drama these movies balance out well! *I just wish the live action producers would actually learn something from these film.* With the exception of the Dark Knight Trilogy, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, the rest of the DC live actions have been nothing but an eye-sore to me. At least in the animated films they get a realistic and proper portrayal and actually care what the fans want to see, not just pandering to the masses with hip new spins on old things. *cough cough* Joker/Harley *cough cough* See more
Anakin G Mar 27, 2019 Wow, loved it, another awesome installment added to the DC Animated Movie Universe. I had seen a more mediocre and condensed version of the same story in the 2007 film Superman: Doomsday, this time around they were more faithful to the 1992 comic book storyline. By giving time for the story to develop, we as viewers are more invested in Superman. The animation is good, the fight epic, the pacing great, and the story bittersweet, an ending full of heartache. Kylo S Mar 26, 2019 I gotta say this is actually the second time that DC has done the Death of Superman arc in animated form. Their first of the DC Universe Animated films was actually Superman/Doomsday (2007), but that one from what I remember wasn't that great. This version continues their own arc of the New 52 storylines they've been doing and for the most part it works. One last back story I'm pretty familiar with the Death of Superman arc from the 1990's it's the first tradeback that I ever read and got me into comics, so in a way I really...really...really like this storyline. This one doesn't follow the comics all that well, but I enjoyed it's take on the story. Clark Kent (Jerry O'Connell) is finally trying to reveal to Lois Lane (Rebecca Romijn) that he's Superman. But, when the mysterious Doomsday lands on Earth and begins a path of destruction the Justice League goes off to try and stop this monster leaving Clark to reveal his secret to Lois, but not enough time to fully explain everything. Meanwhile Lex Luthor (Rainn Wilson) is plotting his own revenge against the Man of Steel. It's pretty basic, but truthfully this is a movie that very much is setting up the plot of the next film Reign of the Supermen (2019) which in the comics was the whole life after death scenario. This one was fun though. It's light on story and big on the action. Doomsday is absolutely nuts here and the final showdown is well done. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and would recommend DC Fans and fans of the comics to definitely check it out. See more
Ron M Mar 25, 2019 One of the better DC Animated movies in a long while. While the animation could've been better, it no longer becomes an issue once the plot gets moving and especially in the fight scenes. See more
Han W Feb 27, 2019 The "Batman v Superman" movie that should have been, apart from batman is normal and doesn't go after superman..
