The movie's an eyeful, though, thanks to the intricate production design and many artworks on display; it's also an earful, thanks to Ennio Morricone's fittingly lush score. Go to Full Review

An uneven but weirdly mesmerizing drama/thriller, Giuseppe Tornatore's "The Best Offer" offers an acting showcase to Geoffrey Rush. Go to Full Review

The film is not without its share of flaws - the intentionally stilted dialogue will get on some folks' nerves - but does just enough to deliver upon expectations. Go to Full Review
Jason Best Movie Talk Jul 27, 2014
Tornatore lays on the symbolism a bit thickly, and the film's mix of accents offers a distinct whiff of Europudding. You will probably even see some of the twists coming. Yet the film is still terrifically compelling. Go to Full Review

Part of a forger's craft involves not simply duplicating the images but replicating the strokes to be found in the original. Tornatore's film makes deft use of cinematic cliché to lead viewers astray. Go to Full Review

Theodore R Jun 15, 2018 Brilliant film watched last night after randomly scrolling through Amazon videos for something to watch. Great story what left me wantign it to carry on longer than it did. See more
Leia R May 28, 2018 8/10 beautiful fable
Hermione R May 3, 2018 For the first hour this is an intriguing - if painfully slow - mystery, involving Geoffrey Rush's fastidious art expert and auctioneer defrauding the art world with his hirsute accomplice, the bizarrely Cockney Donald Sutherland. But the plotting becomes progressively ludicrous and predictable, until the only person who hasn't worked out what's going on is Rush's character. Nicely photographed in Italy, with a sinuous Morricone score. See more
Hagrid G Oct 25, 2017 " Human emotions are like works of art. They can be forged. They seem just like the original, but they're a forgery .. Everything can be faked, Virgil. Joy, pain, hate, illness, recovery, even love. " Everyone related with Virgil, except his assistant Lambert, set him up, even Billy, his partner for 25 years. Such a sad story. I hope it only happens in movies. See more
Rey R Sep 17, 2017 This film would have been fantastic without the unnecessarily vulgar nude and sexual scenes. Not only did this limit the number of viewers but detracted from the tale greatly. The sets were beautifully made and the actors all do a fine job of weaving the tapestry. I love the idea that no forgery can truly be perfect because people want to show themselves, and in these ways, even in lies, we can see who someone really is. See more
