Critics Consensus

The decision to turn this kiddie fantasy into a 3-D film was a miscalculation.

It's terrible 3-D. I think the story is terrible as well. Go to Full Review

Script-wise, the film dutifully harps on the importance of dreams and believing in oneself, but it is painfully repetitive and something that is proclaimed more than demonstrated. Go to Full Review

The film’s naïve charm, filtered through Rodriguez’s big kid-in-a-candy-store filmmaking sensibility, engages on the level of childlike—and at times defiantly, delightfully childish—imagination. Go to Full Review

Robert Rodriquez continues in the vein of his "Spy Kids" films with another visually frenetic kiddie crowd-pleaser that will leave adult chaperons exiting the cinema nursing headaches. Go to Full Review

Apr 6, 2019 This was part of my childhood :)
Ron S Mar 19, 2019 It's a terrible movie and also terrible plot. One of the worst kid movies to watch (extremely boring).
Hagrid R Feb 25, 2019 Best movie ever I have seen it is my childhood
Rey S Feb 25, 2019 I believe this movie deserves more positive reviews, since it has many interesting and new concepts. Some say it is one of the directors lowest works, but when he's directed so many classics (And new pieces of cinema) that's a hard standard. Maybe he just wanted to try something new for himself. He did stick with children's movies for a while (Spy Kids Franchise), so I hope he enjoyed directing them as much as I enjoyed watching them! See more
Abraham W Feb 25, 2019 It's good, asswipes
Draco L Feb 21, 2019 Anyone who was not a child when this movie came out have no true say in how great or not this movie is, I watched this endlessly when I was a kid and can honestly say it is fantastic for what it is. This story which so many people say is terrible has captivated so many kids when it first came out. See more
