Terrifier

What to Know

Critics Consensus

All about the splashy kills, Terrifier artfully introduces the unpredictable massacrer mime Art, yet fails to carve an entertaining story worthy of his wrath.

Anton Bitel Sight & Sound Nov 7, 2017
Thornton stays in rôle as fun-loving mime artist, so that all his slayings involve an unnerving combination of predatory sadism & popular performance. This makes him a perfect vehicle for the paradoxes of horror (as) entertainment. Go to Full Review
Jeremy Aspinall Radio Times May 23, 2025

Even seasoned horror fans may feel a little liverish from Art's merciless menu of bodily perforations, some of which push the limits of on-screen gore to breaking point. Go to Full Review
David Griffiths Subculture Entertainment Oct 31, 2024

Terrifier looks and feels like a student film and I mean that in the kindest way. This is a reminder of what horror should be - simple and brutal. Go to Full Review
Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Oct 10, 2024
3.5/5
Leone’s passion and craftsmanship come together to make an effectively eerie, occasionally shocking, and surprisingly funny splatter film that set the table for the unlikely franchise that we have today. Go to Full Review
Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Oct 3, 2024
3/4
Repulsive, shocking, and disturbingly funny, even a little nihilistic in its single-minded ambitions. Terrifier doesn’t give the viewer much to chew on, but even the most desensitized horror fanatic will watch in horrible awe at what Leone has created Go to Full Review
Rocco T. Thompson Rue Morgue Magazine Jul 3, 2024
As a pure, gross, down ‘n dirty experience in abject cruelty that keeps its tongue firmly buried in cheek, Terrifier is successful. Go to Full Review

Rey R Apr 27, 2019 Very low budget. Not very good. Somebody turned the contrast up way too high. Just an uneventful, and eventually gross slasher. Lots of unintentional cringe. See more
Albus R Apr 25, 2019 The problem i have with this movie as it didn't build much of a story, they forgot about basic human anatomy, the work with synthetic skin, and various inconsistencies throughout. It is a good concept on a very common phobia but poorly executed. See more
Apr 22, 2019 Está película demuestra que se pueden hacer buenas películas de terror aún con bajo presupuesto!!!
Hagrid M Apr 18, 2019 Oh my gosh. This takes you back to the 1980s.
Apr 7, 2019 Gotta watch it again instant cult classic!!
Ron S Mar 28, 2019 Great old school horror, very brutal, scary clown, and he was very funny as well......highly recommended!
