There is no monster at the end of this story, only boundless regret, and tedium. Go to Full Review

Temple comes off as more of a half-hearted attempt at exploiting typical J-horror themes than an actual homage to the Japanese genre. Go to Full Review

It fails to provide any real scares and adheres to well-worn tropes without a fresh twist. Go to Full Review

I almost wish the film had been less of a sketch and more of a fully formed idea, giving the characters more room to develop and the temple's legends more color and depth. Still, what's here has a handful of worthy moments of terror and intrigue. Go to Full Review

Makes little effort to transcend threadbare scary movie clichés while trotting out listless J-horror tropes Go to Full Review

A solid example of how to do an Americans travelling abroad sub-genre flick that doesn't fumble around in Asian culture simply for fumbling's sake. Go to Full Review

Mar 23, 2019 Most of this was solid if a bit predictable (over-eager tourists laughing off warnings of doom, and all that) ... and then it just falls apart. Countless threads that seemed significant get abandoned, the ending makes absolutely zero sense, and it can't seem to decide whether it's going the route of "character goes insane and kills friends" or "supernatural face-eating vampire children". Plus, it falls into the all-too-frequent trap of showing a character wandering about an unknown area for no particular reason, waving her flashlight about wildly. It's one thing to be spare on visuals of the Big Bad -- flashes from the shadows can be creepier than highly detailed shots -- but this manages to be not so much spare as nonexistent. I am left confused by the ending, and by why I wasted time on this. See more
Hermione R Oct 9, 2018 All that fucking buildul for nothing. I wasted my data dor this? Dang, my phonebill will be the real horror story. I was expecting somekind of As Above, So Below action because i was prettu goddamn disappointed when theu showed that ratchet as looking temple, man. I mean cmon. There's literally no space for action what even??? Dear god. Bring me my time back. See more
Luke R Sep 25, 2018 Not a single redeeming value in this one.
Leia L Aug 9, 2018 A pretty predictable horror movie. If you're familiar with the Kitsune and trickster Gods this will be much more interesting. The film leaves the ultimate ending up to the imagination but the amount of cliche's is damn near nauseating. See more
Albus L Jul 26, 2018 A decent amount of scares with just enough plot to keep it interesting.
Hermione P Jul 20, 2018 Listen... I usually just facepalm to "romantic" movies but this one was so bad I created a rotten tomatoes account with a hurting face. See more
