Ex-soldier Frank Brayker (William Sadler) is the guardian of an ancient key that can unlock tremendous evil; the sinister but charming Collector (Billy Zane) is a demon who wants the key so he can initiate the apocalypse. On the run from wicked mercenaries for almost 90 years, Brayker finally stops in at a boarding house in New Mexico where -- with the help of its quirky residents -- he plans to face off against the Collector and his band of ghouls, preventing them from ever seizing the key.

Critics Consensus

The usual pulp delights of Tales From the Crypt are too few and far between in Demon Knight -- a disappointingly slack and by the numbers siege flick.

Good horror films are thin on the ground right now; this one will do nicely.

To call Demon Knight a popcorn movie is to give it too much credit — I doubt it would raise the pulse of Orville Redenbacher.

Pic is neither funny enough nor scary enough to be fully satisfying as either a shocker or a spoof.

It has one of the best Zane performances in his career, delivers a simply pulpy horror tale, and breaks new ground in the process. New ground which is now carried forward by a strong line of actors and actresses who survive through the credits

It is a campy homage that doesn’t promise any thought-provoking resonance but will provide some easy thrills and stellar kills. Demon Knight knows what it is and doesn’t hide from it.

One of my all time favorite movies, if you are a christian then this movie should freak you out, it has a lot of meaning to it. Has comedy, while scaring the crap out of you, while also making you laugh, and while thinking about the bible and end of times with demons, it'll make you think, that's for sure. The movie has good quality for the year it was made, to have been a low budget film. So underrated !!!

When I used to see this kind of movies im 80s or 90s it was a tremendous exciting see them by the misterious and funny moments but now almost 30 years later is so bad that oñis really good funny hilarious bad acts bad efects but only saves that mistyque and enigmatic topic of horror that entertain me a lot as a kid. 3.5 for those good moments.

It's not scary. It's a fun scary movie. I'm trying to think of comparisons...maybe like Chucky (Child's Play), Krumpus, the Leprechaun and so on.

I did not like this film. I will say Billy Zane gave a 110% performance and made the best out of this movie, that's about it. Better than "Bordello of Blood" but still crap.

On first viewing this is a mildly entertaining movie in large part due to Billy Zane's performance. Unfortunately it feels like a TV movie or an extended episode and lacks real scares but its trashy fun for horror fans.
